Amazing Projectors

Dedicated To Building Theater Rooms.

In 2012, AEG had been in business for 9 years, and building dedicated theater rooms was of course one of our favorite, if not most frequent endeavors.  At that time, we were still primarily using 5.1 and 7.1 surround configurations, driven by as powerful an AVR (audio video receiver) as we could convince a customer to purchase.  The projectors that were available at the time were still using 1080p (Blu-Ray/HD) resolution, and while not super bright, there was absolutely an evolution taking place.

Along came 4K

Considering we lived in a world where the dominant resolution for more than 50 years was a paltry 480i in a 4:3 aspect ratio (square box), the advent of the flat panel display in the early 2000s was a watershed moment for the electronics industry and consumers alike.  With its entirely new rectangular 16:9 aspect ratio, in a form factor you could actually hang on the wall, the death knell for your beloved Trinitron was sounding an increasingly louder bell.  It was in 2003 when flat panel sales outperformed the sale of CRT TVs, and there has been no looking back since.

The Evolution of Display Technology:
From CRT TVs to 4K Laser Projectors

In addition to the changes in size and shape, the flat panel began its gradual but meaningful resolution evolution.  Image size continued to grow and resolution with it.  When the Blu-Ray format (1080p) was introduced in 2006, it was as big a step forward as anyone could ever imagine, until 4K was introduced in 2012.  In the first couple of years of 4K, our customers would often ask us, “Do I really need 4K, and what the heck is it?  That answer has always been a resounding “yes” to 4K.  The other question we still hear regularly is “isn’t the image quality of a flat panel superior to that of a projector?  These individuals must have known some sad person who paid a bunch of money for a three-gun CRT projector, which was often very expensive and never worked quite right.  Today’s 4K laser projectors are quite simply amazing and mesmerizing and must be seen to be appreciated.
